Austin Athletic Arm Care

The Problem

About 50% of Baseball Pitchers experience shoulder or elbow pain at some point during the season. In addition, shoulder and elbow injuries have been on the rise for decades. Athletes are throwing harder and longer than ever before. This increased demand on the shoulder and elbow complex is a recipe for injury.

The Solution

Arm Care Programs have been shown to reduce incidences of injury by 48-49%. Individualized programs have an even higher success rate over 50%. It is our mission to reduce injuries amongst all pitchers so they can perform at their full potential and make it to the next level. We also understand that pitching is a full body endeavor and all of our programs take the entire athlete into account.

The Process

  • An Individualized Assessment.

    • Every Arm Care Program starts with a full Individualized Assessment. This is assessment will look at Scapular Movement and Strength, Total Range of Motion at the Shoulder, Rotator Cuff Strength, Thoracic Spine Mobility, etc.

    • This Individualized Assessment will lay the foundation for the program moving forward and will guarantee a personalized approach.

  • Program Development

    • A Personalized Program will be developed and have emphasis on all phases of the throwing motion ensuring elite performance.

    • Workouts will be separated into 3 parts (Full Care Days, Recovery Days, and Focused Days)

    • Each workout will be performed according to your bullpen or game schedule.

      • Game or Bullpen Days - Full Care Days (Post Throwing)

      • Day After a Game or Bullpen - Recovery Days

      • In-between Games or Bullpens - Focused Days

  • Program Refinement

    • Every 2 weeks the Program will be refined to ensure progression. No more doing the same arm care all season.

*This Arm Care Program should be done coinciding a strong Strength and Conditioning Program.
